"Note to Hugh Grant's postman: please deliver some of his laugh a minute scripts to Ralph Fiennes. We ask because brooding Ralph, usually hugging our screens playing serious types in the likes of the English Patient and Oscar and Lucinda is bemoaning the fact he's always passed over for the "Hugh Grant kind of comedies"

"I don't get sent those types of scripts" moans Ralph, 39 "the scripts I get sent, they go to me for angst. I don't get the same scripts that go to Hugh Grant". Fortunately Ralph, who steps out with equally straight faced Francesca Annis, 58, has just finished filming the romantic comedy the chambermaid. But his biggest giggle came from his relationship with co-star Jennifer Lopez, with whom he was surprised to find himself romantically linked. "It was a set up" he sighs "I think there was a decoy - that's me. And J-Lo denies it and then it's Ben Affleck. I said: Jennifer, im a little jealous. We were having a thing here- and now it's Ben"
