| Mum and Dad in
Toronto October 1998 |
My parents, Dilara and Wilfred King, are teachers by profession. They met at Barnes High School, in Devlali which is not too far from Bombay. My brother, Jamil (known to many as Bobby), was born in Palwal some years before that. My sister, Gillian and I were born and grew up in Devlali. Barnes was a great school and growing up there was one of the best things that happened to us kids. The then Headmaster, Mr. W R Coles, was a fine man who dedicated his life to Barnes and took a personal interest in each of us kids - and there were plenty of us! We left Devlali at the end of 1965 and moved to New Delhi.
Dad joined the Council for the ISC Examinations and retired in 1992 as Secretary. Mother taught in St. Columba's School in New Delhi until she retired in 1979. After Dad retired, they moved to the house that they built in Dehra Dun, which is about 250 kms. north-east of New Delhi. They are enjoying retired life.
Both of them love singing and were members of the Delhi Christian Chorus almost as long as they were in Delhi.
In 1997, Angie (nee Fernandes) and John Richardson arranged for Mum and Dad to visit Australia. They had a great time there, visiting old friends and former students from Barnes High School. Click here to see some of the pictures taken in Australia.

early 60's?
Jamil and his wife Harriet, have returned from Muscat, Oman where they lived and worked in the early 1990's, and settled in their home in Clement Town, Dehra Dun, near Mum and Dad. Gillian lives and works in Delhi.
Harriet and Jamil have two grown children, Mark and Iona. Sara and Leia, are their grandchildren, Iona and Samit's daughters. Mark and Caroline don't have any children. Yet!
Gillian has two boys - Luke and Paul. Both are now the Shri Ram schools near Delhi.
My Photo Album has other pictures of family and friends.
