Talking to Outstanding Survivors of Canada's Wartime Navy. For the past three years, and with a real sense of urgency, the producers have continued to expand this most important project - to capture the "Sight and Sound" of some of Canada's outstanding naval personalities. A tribute long overdue, these videos present not merely a record of war experiences but also allows the personalities of these persons to shine through - so that future generations will see who they were - what they did - and what it was like to have served and lived those days! Every production is liberally laced with wartime movie clips as well as the subjects' own personal photos and memorabillia of the time. Each video runs for between 30 and 60 minutes and is dedicated to one notable individual. WHAT AND WHY OF SEASONED SAILORS The object is to present a permanent visual record of Canada's naval participation in World War II showing some still surviving naval veterans together with their account of the experiences they endured. The series shows who these individuals were...what it was that they did, and how they look and sound today. The concept is not new but now, video tape in lieu of motion picture film, provides an practicable means to achieve this. Each interview includes photos, movies, letters, sounds & musical artifacts of the period - almost as in the mind's eye - to help convey the viewer back to that time. Who are most interested? These productions are popular with Veterans Associations, Museums, Cadet Corps, Public Libraries, Naval Reserves, High School Libraries and University history faculties. They are always sought by persons in families connected with the sea and with Canada's maritime heritage and are frequently given as gifts. Set #1 No. 1 - Vice Adm. Harry G.
