ANNUAL FESTIVITIES AND CEREMONIES
While most Japanese people
have no fixed or exclusive religious affiliation, at times they do express
belief very fervently, invoking the deity or creed appropriate to the occasion.
This video focuses on belief as expressed in ceremonies and during annual
celebrations. The heart and soul of the Japanese, often incomprehensible
to the foreign eye, is vividly depicted against Japan's beautiful panorama.

This short video traces the painstaking process of restoring the master's
"View of Delft" and his "Girl with the pearl earring".

Golden Age who displayed great versatility and imagination in the portrayal
of cows and other domestic animals as well as genre paintings, farm life
and the hunt. In this film about Potter's life and artistic career, the
characteristics of his work are examined: the precise composition, the minute
detail, the realism, the low placement of the horizon in the Dutch landscape

PROFILES OF DETERMINATIONS
Three short video featurettes
give us insight into the lives of a number of courageous and determined
individuals. Deprived of the use of their hands due to illness, accidents
or birth defects, they replace the missing hands to paint with mouth or
foot. We are introduced to people who share the common hardship of being
handicapped but, who also share a very positive outlook on their lives.
Working as artists in spite of their physical limitations, they prove that
"although one door may close, another may be opened."

JAN
STEEN, PAINTER AND STORYTELLER
Rembrandt and Vermeer are
the best known painters of Holland's Golden Age. But the Dutch are no less
proud of Jan Steen (1626-1679), a painter with a humorous and lively touch.
His domestic scenes, often exposing the comical and unseemly side of family
life, are legendary. The Dutch expression "a Jan Steen household"
is used today to refer to a chaotic, topsy-turvy home. However, Steen was
also a subtle and gifted painter. The legacy he left us comprises a total
of almost 400 paintings, which include biblical as well as secular scenes.

VAN
GOGH, A MUSEUM FOR VINCENT
A museum dedicated exclusively
to the work of Vincent van Gogh. This would have been totally inconceivable
to the painter himself. He felt he was too misunderstood to be appreciated
by the public - in his own time at least. The world - famous collection
of the Rijksmuseum Vincent van Gogh in Amsterdam has served as the basis
for this documentary. Location shots in the Netherlands, Belgium and France
contribute to creating a living impression of the life and work of one of
the world's greatest painters: Vincent van Gough.

WHEN
MOUTH AND FEET BECOME HANDS
This video looks at several
Canadian artists. These men and women are like you and me! Although they
have lost their arms and hands, or the use of these limbs through illness,
accident or genetic disorder, they have fought a great battle and won. Instead
of a life stagnant in social backwaters, dependent on government support
and with little hope for a promising future, they now improve their standard
of living to be free of worries and to dedicate themselves to their work
as artists.
