Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario...

The Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario is an association of professional accountants. Members must meet the rigorous requirements of professional competence; are bound to a uniform standard of conduct, and are entitled, under Acts of both the Parliament of Canada and the legislature of the Province of Ontario, to the designation CGA.

The Mission of the Certified General Accountants Association of Ontario is to ensure its members merit the confidence and trust of all who rely upon their professional knowledge, skills, judgments and integrity.

Experience...

Gary began his tax and accounting practice in 1984 after receiving his CGA designation. His professional experience is supplemented with several work assignments in industry. Some of his accomplishments included streamlining accounting systems (both manual and computerized), internal audits, tax appeals, budgeting and forecasting, cash flow planning, employee relations and related HR assignments and finally, implementing quality assurance systems and programs
(ISO 9000).

The clients within his accounting and tax practice range from accountant for the "Mom and Pop" type of operation to the large executive clients, covering areas ranging from the simple T1 tax return to complicated estate and corporate returns, budgeting, cash flow forecasting etc. , all receiving the personal care and attention to detail that only a practice of this size can offer to its clients. Particular strengths are in the areas of manufacturing and processing, restaurant and food preparation, movie and film industry, printing and graphic arts, and finally, executorships and estate administration accounting.

As the Certified General Accountant designation may imply, Gary has a generalist attitude, rather than a specialist one. This attitude affords him the opportunity to notice a wider variety of problems and determine the best solution to a problem, from addressing the tax implications to dealing with system and administrative routines.

Along with this generalist attitude however, comes the responsibility to remain current in tax and employment laws as well as auditing and accounting issues. To do this he maintains a full practice library either on computer or on the shelf, continuing education and training through the CGA Professional Development program and the CGA Practice Review program, all with the idea of keeping himself and his clients up to date on various topics which may be of interest.

Finally, Gary F. McLean is a active member of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce (Pickering/Ajax) and is an affiliate member of The Canadian Association of Financial Planners. His office is located just outside of Toronto, Canada, in Pickering, Ontario.
